With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and your community.
One of the better-known benefits of volunteering is the satisfaction of having positive impact on your community, and having a direct influence on its members. Volunteers are often the glue that holds a community together. Volunteering is a two-way street: It can benefit you and your family as much as the cause you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network, boost your social skills, and even advance your career.
NALA trains a group of local volunteers that become the key force within the community that moves the initiative forward. The volunteers are trained in leadership and health education (focusing on NTDs) and build a set of locally appropriate tools, materials and activities that could be used within the community. The volunteers act as trainers and agents with the community, liaising with stakeholders, running educational programs in schools, collaborating with women’s network, health and education professionals, and with water committees and WASH professionals.
