Strong NALA presence at global NTD conference
The 9th annual Neglected Tropical Disease NGO Network (NNN) conference took place from September 24-26 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with more than 450 registrants from across the globe taking part. This year's theme was "Reaching the Last Billion: Setting BEST in Motion"and was divided into the four tracks of the BEST framework: behavior, environment, social inclusion, and treatment. As these areas closely reflect the focus of our work, NALA was in a unique position to highlight our best practices and lessons learned.
NALA presented in several workshops during the conference. Our CEO Michal Bruck led a workshop entitled "Leading the way: Collaboration between WASH and NTDs in Ethiopia". The workshop was based on our work with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and showed how WASH-NTD collaboration was designed and translated by key organizations. In addition, Liat Rennert, NALA/JDC Program Manager in Ethiopia, presented NALA's model as an example during a workshop on "Designing Effective Behavior Change Intervention for NTDs", which was led by Sarity Dodson of our partner FHF. Additionally, Michal and Yirga Gebregziabher, NALA's Strategic Advisor, presented in "Behavior Change: Practical Education Approaches, Promotion Damages, and Change Interventions for Improving the Effectiveness of NTD Programs", led by Anouk Gouvras of the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance (GSA). With a strong representation throughout the conference, NALA effectively expanded its presence as a technical expert alongside recognized leaders in the public health field.
