NALA exploring new opportunities beyond Ethiopia
One of NALA's goals is to expand to working in additional countries that are struggling to combat Neglected Tropical Disease. Ran Gidor, the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon initiated contact between NALA and key officials in Cameroon, and was instrumental in helping organize a pilot trip. MASHAV - Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded a two week trip in April for our program staff to assess the possibility of collaboration in Cameroon. This trip was also coordinated with local team from Sightsavers International (SSI), one of our key partners in Ethiopia. During the trip, the NALA team held meetings with different stakeholders and conducted a field visit to a district that is a disease hot spot for schistosomiasis. Further developments are expected in the near future.
