NALA/JDC Program Manager in Ethiopia
Liat comes to us with a wide range of experience in international public health and relief efforts.
Liat served as a joint JDC/Project Ten/NALA public health project coordinator for the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases in rural communities in Dembia wereda, specifically Bilharzia and intestinal worms. Liat worked with schools, health workers, and community leadership and managed teams of international volunteers. Within a year, the disease prevalence rate of the school children dropped from 87% to 46%, due to her consistent work with community partners. Liat participated and led relief missions in various locations around the world. She also worked as a research assistant in the Department of Community Medicine and Epidemiology at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa.
Liat has a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a M.A. in Public Health from Tel Aviv University where she concentrated on Emergency and Disaster Management.
