The following provides guidance on the coordination of WASH and NTD sectors in order to create an environment for achieving sustainable behavioral change in NTD endemic communities, as well as step by step recommendations for actualizing their integration at the wereda (community) level.

Establishing coordination amongst sectors has potential benefits in many aspects, amongst which are financial, programmatic, and logistic. Such coordination allows for optimizing resource utilization (human, financial), fosters informed decision-making through shared databases, reports and tools, and enables joint planning leading to better targeted and efficient program implementation. Avoiding resource and effort duplication as well as increasing sustainability of soft and hard WASH components, are additional benefits of the coordination.
